What It Would Cost to Attend Every Detroit Pro Game

Tickets for the Lions and Tigers alone would cost about $9,000 a year, and you'd be out of the house 170 nights a year

Detroit sports have come a long way since 2017, when not a single one of the four major sports teams were close to making a push for the playoffs. Now, all four teams have been contending over the past couple years, adding a new energy to the city.

There’s only one negative to all of this. When a team sucks, the tickets are usually cheaper.

If you wanted to attend each of the big four’s home games. You’d be out of the house between more than 170 nights a year. That includes the 81 home games for the Tigers, 41 games each for the Red Wings and Pistons at Little Caesars Arena, and the 8 or 9 games at Ford Field.

Starting in the NFL, the Lions season ticket prices have skyrocketed right alongside the team's expectations and, outside of last year, their results. According to MLive, the franchise raised their season ticket prices by 20% to 30% for the 2025 season, but still had a 98% renewal rate. In addition, the average resale price was $444 for home games last season. Insane for the letdown season they had.

The average cost for a ticket to attend a game last year was $485. Multiplying that by the eight home games that the Lions played at Ford Field last year and with a 20% increase in price, should land season ticket holders over $4,000.

The Tigers are still allowing season ticket plans, the largest of which is a 56-game plan starting. One ticket for all 53 of those games on the first baseline costs $4,601.

It’s a ton of games, but that’s still more than $9.000 for two teams.

Finally, we have the two teams that reside at 2645 Woodward Avenue. The stars have not aligned for the Red Wings and Pistons to be successful at the same time in a long time. The cheapest option for Red Wings fans who want some type of season ticket membership can buy 10-game plans, which cost $520 apiece. If you were to scale that to the 41 home games that the Wings play, it’d cost $2,132 per season.

As for the Pistons, lower-level half-season plans for the 26-27 season start at $990. Scaling for a full-season would put you at $1,980.

That makes a grand total of $13,369 for season tickets across all sports teams.

Over $13k to watch one team in limbo, one in dire need of a change at general manager, one who needs to fire the whole training staff yesterday, and one that has Michiganders on pins and needles.

Meanwhile, it costs just about $200 per year to watch the Tigers and Red Wings after the creation of Detroit Sports Network, as well as whatever your basic cable package is for the Lions and $25 a month for the NBA.TV subscription for the Pistons. All of these teams from the comfort of your home.

Ignore the emails and phone calls from ticket salesmen, and stick to your couch.
