Detroit Catholic Central

If you know anything about Michigan high school football, you know how talented this team is. Losing one Gash brother to MSU, as well as multiple other players to DI programs will not stop this team. Quarterback v took one ring off of the fingers of Cass Tech last year. WR Gideon Gash is currently ranked as the No. 3 player in the state. There’s no stopping this team this year.

Orchard Lake St. Marys

Another team looking to repeat, but looking for three straight state championships. The Eaglets main feature is WR Chad Willis, who’s committed to play for Bill Belichick at North Carolina. Quarterback Jabin Gonzalez is already fielding offers from Marshall, a few MAC schools, and Notre Dame as coach Jermaine Gonzalez looks to three-peat.

Martin Luther King

2027 ATH Don Spillers leads a star-studded 2027 class of commits to Pat Fitzgerald’s MSU program. MLK hasn’t made a state championship since 2024 in Division III, but looks to be the top program coming out of Detroit.

Saline

Although the Hornets lost their quarterback Tommy Carr (grandson of legendary Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr) to U-M, Saline stays loaded with three players in the state’s top 30, including OL Louis Esposito, who committed to Michigan last year. The Ann Arbor neighbor continues to be a U-M feeder program a top contender in Division I this year.

Cass Tech

The Technicians' resilience will be tested this season, as they look to rebound after losing to Detroit Catholic Central in the 2025 state championship last year. QB Donald Tabron II just committed to Texas A&M as a top five player in the 2028 class. Their biggest test will be facing off against the No. 3 ranked MLK at the end of September, while head coach Marvin Rushing looks to find the same success as they did when they won the state title in 2024.
