The Best Baseball Players Left in the State Tournament

These Division I commits are game-changers for their teams

· June 7, 2026

Andrew Mahoney, Detroit Catholic Central LHP

The Cincinnati Bearcats signee has established himself as one of the best aces in the state. In the district final, Mahoney threw 6.2 innings in a win with nine strikeouts and only one earned run. Mahoney and teammate SS/3B Dylan Fairchild will both be in the Queen City playing for the Bearcats next spring.

Koltyn “Flip” Watters, Rochester Adams OF/1B

One of the best sophomores in the country helped Adams stay alive in the tournament with a game-tying double against Romeo in the regional semifinal, where Adams walked off Romeo in the 10th inning. Adams knocked off Oxford in five innings, in which Watters had a 2-run bomb to help Adams earn a 17-3 mercy win to earn a trip to the Final Four.

Luke Creighton, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s SS/RHP

Creighton committed to Indiana as a freshman, and hasn’t looked back. He was a crucial piece to the Eaglets’ Catholic League Championship run this season, going 6-12 with a homerun, triple, double, and 5 RBIs in three games. Creighton also threw a gem against rival Brother Rice, tossing a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts and only two hits. The younger brother of Clemson Tiger Jack Creighton, Luke looks to lead the Eaglets past Dearborn Divine Child in the state semifinal on Thursday.

Cameron Thorning, Woodhaven C

The Wright State commit was a key piece of Woodhaven’s regional championship run, smacking five hits and four RBIs in wins over Brother Rice and De La Salle last week. His go-ahead double against Brother Rice was the game-sealer.
