Our Picks to Win the Michigan High School Baseball Championship

Teams with long winning streaks are making a postseason push

By Alex Deimel · June 2, 2026

Division I: Rochester Adams

After saving their season in extra innings against rival Rochester High School, the Highlanders move on to face Romeo in the Regional 15 semifinal. Adams finished the year with an impressive 24-8 record during the regular season. One of Brother Rice’s few losses this year, we expect the D1 state championship trophy in the halls of Rochester Adams high school for the first time in program history.

Division II: New Boston Huron

Ranked No. 4 in the state by Prep Baseball, the Chiefs finished the year with an outstanding 31-5 regular season record after starting the year on a 12-game heater. They absolutely dominated their district tournament, winning every game by mercy rule before facing Tecumseh High School in their regional semifinal game on Wednesday. Toledo commit and RHP Cash Moczydlowsky will look to bring New Boston Huron their first state championship ever.

Division III: Traverse City St. Francis

The Gladiators look to defend their 2025 D3 title after wiping the floor with the district competition, beating Benzie Central 15-0 and then Kalkaska 10-3. They will take on the Harbor Springs Rams in their regional semifinal, where breakout shortstop John St. Peter looks to continue his dominance. The Gladiators finished the regular season 28-6, which included a 16-game winning streak before a tight loss to Beal City on May 9.

Division IV: Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic

The Irish are seeking their first state championship since 2021 after winning their four district championships in the last six years. After knocking off Decatur in the first game of playoffs, the Irish brutalized Lawrence 21-0 in a game that included an inside-the-park grand slam from senior Jimmy Kennedy. Ismael Verduzco looks to lead his team past Martin High School in the regional semifinal on Wednesday.
