Running Up the Score

Had to triple check my sources on this one, but the Hudson Tigers beat the Hillsdale Hornets by a whopping 78 points, finishing the game at 86-6.

Believe it or not, this only ties the most points scored by one team in a game this year, since Whittemore-Prescott’s 8-player team put up the same amount of points in week two.

Marching to Ford Field

In a state championship at Ford Field, No. 1 Cass Tech remained undefeated after a 35-19 victory over No. 8 Detroit Martin Luther King to clinch their fourth consecutive Detroit Public School Blue Division Championship.

A battle between undefeateds gave Grand Ledge their first loss of the year, when Detroit Catholic Central took down the Comets 36-14. Catholic Central remains the No. 2 team in Michigan behind Cass Tech and improves to 8-0.

There are four remaining undefeated teams in Division I: Cass Tech, Catholic Central, Hudsonville, Grand Blanc. With only one week left in the regular season, we will see who can remain undefeated and finish 9-0.

Play of the Week

Cass Tech senior Will Sykes Jr. sets a state record with a 99-yard touchdown to seal the game.

Headed to Lansing

East Kentwood’s 3-star QB Kayd Coffman threw three touchdown passes in a 35-20 win over division rival Grandville, including a 59-yard dime to Stephan Jones. Coffman is committed to Michigan State.
