Pin the Mitten: Prove You Actually Know This State

Welcome to our new daily map game!

By Mark Naida · October 18, 2026

Every Michigander has done it. You hold up your right hand, point at a spot on your palm and say, “I’m from right about here.”

Now do it without your hand.

Meet Pin the Mitten, the new daily map game from Michigan Enjoyer. Every day we give you 10 Michigan places. You find them on the map, drop a pin and lock it in. That’s the whole game. It’s also a lot harder than it sounds.

You probably know where Detroit and Traverse City are. But where’s Bad Axe? Paw Paw? Aloha? (Yes, that’s a real place. It’s somewhere Up North. Best of luck.)

How it works

  • Ten places a day. Everyone in the state gets the same 10.
  • Get within 3 miles for a bullseye. That’s 1,000 points. Miss by a county and you’ll get a lot less, plus a little shame.
  • Pinch or scroll to zoom. Zooming isn’t cheating. Not zooming is just arrogance.
  • Post your score to the daily leaderboard with your initials. You get one shot a day, and if there’s a tie, the faster player wins. So no, you can’t spend 40 minutes debating how far north Grand Rapids is.

New places drop every night at midnight Eastern. Yes, Eastern. Sorry, Menominee.

Why we made it

Because this state is enormous, gorgeous, and full of towns most of us have driven past without a second thought. Every one of those places has a diner, a water tower and a guy who’ll tell you it’s the best town in Michigan. He might be right.

Pin the Mitten is a few minutes a day to learn where those places are. Play it in the deer blind. Text your score to the father-in-law who claims he “knows every back road in the Thumb.” Then watch him miss Caseville by 30 miles.

See you on the leaderboard.
