Two Nonprofits Are Helping Illegals Evade ICE, and You’re Paying Their Bills

Additionally, the organizations use taxpayer dollars to promote radical “gender-affirming” care for youth

Your tax dollars are going to organizations that have a strong commitment to evading ICE and promoting LGBTQ+ services for youth, including “gender-affirming care.”

Last year, at least $3.5 million of your tax dollars were funneled to The Diatribe, a Grand Rapids-based nonprofit. Pontiac-based Centro Multicultural Familia received at least $857,376.87 through MDHHS.

A press release from the Michigan Democrats said the $3.5 million grant was for the purchase and renovation of a 18,000-square-foot building. A deeper look into The Diatribe shows it has a history of supporting illegal immigration.

In January, The Diatribe shared a post reaffirming its commitment to “marginalized communities” and legal resources for illegal immigrants.

“We reject any action any US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions that create fear, separate families, and target vulnerable communities,” the organization said in the post.

In February, on its Linktree and Facebook pages, The Diatribe shared a brochure from Lighthouse Immigrant Advocates advising migrants on what to do should ICE come to their door and advertised a training for illegal immigrants on how to deal with ICE, including not opening doors, staying silent, refusing to sign anything, recording and reporting police contact, and contacting a lawyer.

Taxpayers are also paying for Lighthouse Immigrant Advocates and a host of other NGOs that provide legal services to criminals who are here in violation of federal immigration law.

The Diatribe has a history of supporting LGBTQ+ causes, including a DEI Child Development Panel with members of the Grand Rapids Pride Center.

On the other side of the state, Centro Multicultural Familia reaffirmed its new programming focused on “racial justice” in its March 2024 newsletter

The organization said it received funding from Welcoming America, a national organization with a strong commitment to illegal immigration. They used the money to paint a mural, of course.

According to Welcoming America’s “Safe Communities” criteria, in order to qualify for “welcoming,” local law enforcement agencies do not have policies in place where the primary purpose is to detain or deport immigrants.

On Centro Multicultural La Familia’s website is an entire section of “2SLGBTQ+ Services” explaining to the immigrant community the history of pride, the importance of the Rainbow Flag, and a guide in Spanish of how to use pronouns

They also state they provide gender-affirming “support.” What does this mean? Are Michigan taxpayers funding gender transition for immigrants?

Why is understanding the history of pride and various flags an important aspect of immigration, legal or not? Shouldn’t “newcomers” be learning about the American flag and American history?

Michigan taxpayers should not be funding organizations that have a commitment to evading federal immigration law. Diatribe and Centro Multicultural La Familia take it a step further by acting as an extension of LGBTQ+ lobby.

Our tax dollars should be going to support services that benefit all Michiganders, not standing against immigration enforcement and propping up radical gender ideology.
