How Did Jellyfish Infest This Michigan Pond?

These freshwater wonders came from a river in China, but don’t seem to be harming the local ecosystems

Brighton — When I heard that jellyfish lived in Michigan, I didn’t believe it. I decided to go see for myself, and, after checking several bodies of water, I finally found them living in a pond in Brighton. Since then, I’ve learned that they live in many lakes and ponds around Michigan. Biologist believe they originate from a river in China.

Although they’re an invasive species, they are fun to see, and I have not heard of them doing any damage to our local ecosystems.
