Did We Just See the Biggest Upset in 20 Years?

The 1-7 Taylor Griffins outlasted the 7-1 Woodhaven Warriors in a 32-28 thriller on Friday night

One Huge Upset

Going into their matchup against 7-1 Woodhaven, the Taylor Griffins were 1-7 on the year before taking down Woodhaven 32-28 on Friday night. Taylor’s only other win on the year came in a 16-8 victory over Edsel Ford High School, a team which Woodhaven had beaten 63-7 the next week. 

Marching to Ford Field

In the greatest rivalry game the state of Michigan has to offer in high school football, Grosse Pointe South knocked off crosstown rival Grosse Pointe North 44-7 to finish the year 8-1 heading into playoffs.

No. 5 ranked Grand Blanc finished off their undefeated regular season with a narrow 40-36 victory over No. 18 Romeo, who finishes at 6-3.

The four teams from in Division 1 heading into the playoffs undefeated are Cass Tech, Catholic Central, Hudsonville, and Grand Blanc. Now it’s time to see who can continue their undefeated season going into playoffs.

Harper Woods junior Dakota Guerrant hauled in a touchdown in double coverage in a 21-17 over Mason.

South Christian senior Owen Christian snapped two sets of ankles on a 50-yard touchdown play against Grand Rapids Catholic Central.

    Staying In State

    Grand Blanc wide receiver Angelo Chapman pulled off a 4th and 1 touchdown against Romeo. The Grand Blanc senior is committed to play at Western Michigan next fall.
