If You Are Garbage, Vote That Way

If You Are Garbage, Vote That Way

You are dangerous. You are deplorable. You are a Nazi, voting for Literally Hitler. You are garbage.

Sometimes, when you say it all, you’ve said nothing at all.

So it was when Detroit City Councilman Coleman Young II joined me on The Pulse. Roop Raj invited us to talk about Donald Trump’s “Detroit diss,” his warning that under Kamala Harris, America would go the way of its dodo bird.

Within 30 seconds of speaking, Young claimed—without evidence—that Trump and his supporters were racist, sexist, white supremacist, anti-trans, dog faces, and sons of pony soldiers.

None of it mattered. None of it was remembered. It was too much and not enough.

President Biden won’t be so lucky, and his remarks won’t be so easily forgotten. He called half of the country trash on Tuesday night. Garbage, actually. Watch it for yourself.

This was an odd closing argument for Biden, a week away from “The Most Important Election of Our Lives.”

Biden isn’t on the ticket, but Harris, his vice president, is. Her rise was Biden’s downfall. It’s no coincidence that Biden dehumanized half the country at the exact moment Harris was making her closing argument.

Biden’s revenge is the October Surprise Democrats have braced for, but ultimately could not stop.

On both counts, the words and the timing, this was Biden being what he has been for 50 years: a jerk. A finger-pointer. An accuser. All the things Democrats claim are unique to Trump.

This is the same guy who in 2012 said that Mitt Romney wanted to put black people “back in chains.”

The same guy who said in 2020 that a black person who doesn’t vote for him “ain’t black.” Joe Biden has always predicated your ability to exist on your support for him.

For four years, Biden has been the stink bomb placed in the White House. And for the last three months, since the palace coup that removed him from the presidential ticket, he has directed his stink at his own team. We fall into the traps we set for others.

Carrying around a MAGA hat and wearing it on stage was a bit too much, so Biden got back into character and did what he’s done for 50 years. He made your ability to exist contingent on your support for him. He said what he really thought. Biden’s clarity in anger might be the only part of himself that’s survived dementia.

Democrats were riding high on their first good news cycle in months, when a comedian at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally called Puerto Rico, “a floating pile of garbage.”

That’s what Biden was responding to on the Zoom call. This was time to milk it, to paint it as though lives were at risk. It was teed up for success. Journalists had their stories pre-written. They just needed to crane in a few Biden quotes.

Then, the president called half the country trash. Garbage, actually.

Harris has disavowed Biden’s remarks but has expressed similar sentiments herself. Just last week, from the VP’s official residency, Harris held a press conference saying Trump respects a man who killed 6 million Jews.

These remarks led Steve Scalise, himself a victim of political violence, to declare Harris “unfit” for the presidency.

Less than a week from a reckoning, Democrats can’t distance themselves from reality. The reality is, you stand in their path to power, and they would say and do anything it takes to move you. Whether that’s name-calling or gunshots.

When people show you who they are, believe them. This doesn’t happen every day, but right now, you actually have a chance to do something about it.

Stand up. Speak out. Vote.
